In this role, you will balance hands-on technical work with team leadership responsibilities. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll mentor and support the professional growth of a small team through regular one-on-one sessions, ongoing feedback, and career development planning. You will drive execution by leading sprint planning, managing team priorities, and removing obstacles to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software. You’ll set high standards for code quality and operational readiness, collaborate closely with Product Managers and Business Analysts, and take ownership of your team’s outcomes by meeting strict Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for availability, performance, and security. Utilising your technical expertise, you will lead the design and architecture of scalable, secure microservices and systems that meet the financial industry’s requirements. You’ll actively contribute to the codebase, focusing on complex and critical components, and conduct thorough code reviews to maintain quality. Your role includes shaping the technical roadmap, making key decisions on architecture and tools, and serving as the technical escalation point to guide your team through challenging production incidents and debugging issues.
