Join our Japan Power team providing trading and hedging services to a range of utility, Power Producer and Suppliers, corporate and institutional clients globally. Based in Tokyo, you will join a team with an active trading, structuring and finance presence across a number of energy and environmental markets in the region including Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

What role will you play?

As an Analyst, you will leverage your quantitative and technical skills to build relevant models and tools to understand and forecast power market conditions, with the goal of generating profitable trading strategies. You will be responsible for Japan power data, ensuring its accuracy, relevance and useability, exploring and introducing new data sources and modelling techniques to constantly improve our forecasting and model performance. Working in collaboration with internal teams such as Sales, Trading, Tech and Physical Operations, you will maintain and further develop market analytics dashboards, provide analytical support as required, as well as develop and document procedures for the analytic functions.

What you offer

  • Degree in a quantitative, mathematics, physics, computer science or similar discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in an analytical role ideally gained within Financial Markets, the Energy industry or adjacent markets
  • Strong financial literacy, modelling skills and programming skills
  • Intellectual curiosity for energy markets, strong commercial acumen, drive and outcome focus with the ability to independently interact with internal and external stakeholders of different seniority
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and Japanese is required for the role.
