The Risk Management Group AI Strategy team is responsible for driving the adoption and effective use of artificial intelligence across the division. The team identifies, assesses, and delivers AI initiatives that improve efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with risk and governance standards.

What role will you play?

As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in delivering and maintaining AI and data science solutions in production environments. You will work closely with engineering teams to transition ideas into fully operational systems, ensuring solutions are reliable, well-governed, and aligned with enterprise standards. Alongside this, you will contribute to prototyping, experimentation, and continuous improvement, helping to solve real-world risk management challenges through data-driven insights.

What you offer

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist, with strong hands-on delivery experience in deploying and maintaining models or analytics in production environments
  • Strong programming skills in Python and solid SQL capability, with experience working on large and complex datasets
  • Experience collaborating with engineering teams on system deployment, workflows, and release processes, including an understanding of version control and automated delivery practices
  • A strong foundation in statistics, modelling, and data analysis, with practical experience monitoring, evaluating, and improving model performance in real-world settings
  • An understanding of data governance, risk, and compliance considerations, with the ability to balance delivery pace with quality, control, and stakeholder expectations.

Our Risk Management Group works as an independent, and centralised function, responsible for independent and objective review and challenge, oversight, monitoring and reporting in relation to Macquarie’s material risks. We are a global team that aims to manage the risks of today and anticipate the risks of tomorrow. Our divisions include compliance, credit, financial crime risk, market risk, operational risk, aggregate risk and prudential, and central.
