Join our team as the Chief Engineer (Head of Engineering) User Access Management to lead the development and delivery of technology solutions that are transforming identity and access management across the entire Macquarie Group.

As the leader of Macquarie's Identity and Access Management strategy, you will develop platforms and solutions to improve identity and access management. You will manage a global team, collaborate with various organisational teams, and handle the technology sourcing strategy, requiring engagement with senior management. Success in this role depends on a deep understanding of technology strategy, architecture, and a clear delivery roadmap.

Your leadership is pivotal in building a strong engineering culture in the User Access Management team. You will focus on attracting and retaining top talent, promoting a collaborative environment that emphasises cross-skilling, DevOps, and accountability. Your role includes creating a tech roadmap aligned with our identity strategy, envisioning future engineering and product delivery, and guiding the team to develop scalable, resilient solutions.

Your role emphasises innovation and site reliability, focusing on cloud adoption, simplifying technology, and automation to foster innovation. You will lead projects to adopt modern technologies and enhance the business, ensuring production support and platform reliability. Effective leadership, communication, and the ability to influence and collaborate across teams are key to success in driving these initiatives.


What you offer

  • Previous experience in managing moderate or large software engineering teams (30 to 60 people).
  • Experience in communicating with senior management and senior business stakeholders.  Ability to communicate with both technical and business leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to introduce and promote innovative solutions that have delivered concrete business impact.
  • Background in cloud technologies, for example Amazon AWS and Google Cloud.
  • Experience with common programming languages, for example Java, Python, Unix scripting, Javascript, and other languages.
  • Experience in system integrations, including Active Directory, REST API, custom API, JDBC and other integration technologies.
  • Experience with identity products such as SailPoint IdentityIQ and Active Directory are desirable but not essential for this role.
