Join our Banking and Financial Services Group’s Legal team, focusing on providing advice in relation to retail and small business deposit products in Australia.

What role will you play?

You will work closely with a range of stakeholders across the retail bank (including product, sales, tech and risk teams). You will be involved in a wide variety of legal work across the product lifecycle, advising on regulation, disputes, breach analysis and incident management, new initiatives, drafting agreements and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, group policies and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will be a highly motivated and collaborative lawyer who enjoys a fast-paced working environment, and who is seeking to work directly within a business in an advisory capacity and with other lawyers across our team.

What you offer

• 3-4 years’ post admission experience in a major law firm or in-house legal team.
• Broad financial services regulation experience, including consumer laws and breach reporting frameworks.
• AFS licensing, FOFA, DDO, non-cash payment and card facilities and banking industry codes.
• AML regulatory reform changes, Privacy, Consumer Data Right and digital banking.
• State based laws related to regulated trust accounts and client money accounts as relevant. for our Business Banking clients such as law firms, real estate firms and insolvency firms.
• Trusts and deceased estates law, including wills, probate and power of attorney requirements, particularly as they relate to retail deposit products and vulnerable clients.
