The Market Risk team at Macquarie Bank Europe is responsible for providing oversight and monitoring of market risk across both trading and non-trading activities. Based in Dublin or Paris, the team forms a vital part of our global Market Risk organisation, working closely with colleagues worldwide to ensure robust risk management practices. The team collaborates with a range of stakeholders, including senior management and governance committees, to support our diverse and dynamic business activities.

While Macquarie offers hybrid working for many of our roles, this role does require 3 days a week in the advertised location.

What role will you play?

You will play a key role by engaging regularly with businesses and trading desks to understand risk positions and market conditions. You will help develop and maintain a comprehensive market risk limit framework, ensuring it aligns with the organisation’s strategy and risk appetite. Your responsibilities include monitoring adherence to market risk limits and profit and loss thresholds, assessing new products and business activities for market risk impact, and contributing to the enhancement of market risk management frameworks, policies, and controls. You will collaborate with global and regional teams to ensure consistency in risk management approaches and provide regular market risk updates for committees and senior management. Additionally, you will deliver traded and non-traded stress testing requirements and regulatory reporting, and support in preparations for the implementation of FRTB.

Experience in market risk management within an international financial institution or financial services organisation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement
Ability to balance detailed analysis with strategic planning
Quick to learn and adapt to various risk management systems
Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities
Capable of working independently and engaging with stakeholders at all levels
Experience in reviewing new business activities and assessing risk implications
Knowledge of regulatory reporting and stress testing requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, or equivalent
