The Credit Risk division is responsible for analysing and assessing all credit and equity exposures taken by Macquarie to minimise the risk of loss arising from failure of counterparties to repay loans or honour contracts. Our division is also responsible for undertaking reviews of counterparties and transactions and establishing appropriate limit frameworks. On principal transaction, we work with the deal team to understand risk versus reward profiles and develop risk mitigation strategies.

What role will you play?

You will be responsible for the credit review and analysis of Macquarie’s Commodities and Global Markets corporate counterparties in the Asia region. You will work closely with global credit offices to provide credit limit recommendations supported by thorough analysis, and work with Macquarie's business groups to opine on new products and/or new transactions, making appropriate recommendations to the credit approvers.

You will assist with the structuring of transactions where relevant, reviewing legal terms as well as providing general advice and analysis to the Commodity Markets and Finance division. Working in partnership with various business units, you will assess a wide range of commodity related transactions, which includes both physical and derivatives. This is a high profile team who deals extensively with senior management and your ability to effectively manage and analyse transactions is key to this role. Additionally, you will monitor the credit quality and global exposure of your portfolio, staying current with industry and economic trends to address credit concerns.

  • Experience preparing counterparty credit reviews and credit recommendations to credit discretion holders
  • Derivatives credit risk experience, including familiarity with negotiating ISDA and CSA documentation, in a large financial institution preferred but not essential
  • Regional commodities and trade finance credit risk experience in a commodities trading house or large financial institution is valuable
  • Comfortable planning and re-prioritising workload in an unpredictable environment
  • High degree of ownership, delivery and timeliness in a fast-paced, output focused environment
  • Ability to build strong, open, dialogue-based relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Korean language skills would benefit Korean market coverage
