Start shaping your career in finance with hands on experience in equities research at Macquarie Capital in Auckland. You will join the New Zealand Equities Research team within Macquarie Securities, a business with 21 years of experience in the New Zealand stock market. You will gain practical exposure to how companies, industries and markets operate while supporting Senior Analysts in their day to day work. This is a part time role for a maximum fixed term of 12 months, commencing in March 2026, and designed to run alongside university study.

What role will you play?

You will support a small team of equity research analysts producing industry and listed company insights for the New Zealand market. Working up to 20 hours per week during the semester, with flexibility around university schedules, you will assist Senior Analysts with day-to-day research activities including data collection, analysis, financial modelling, report drafting and client requests. 

You will also be responsible for maintaining internal and client-generated Excel databases, extracting and formatting data from Bloomberg and other third-party providers, analysing CRM and readership data, and compiling regular internal week-ahead calendars of NZX company releases, alongside key economic and regulatory developments. You will sit side by side experienced colleagues who will support you as you learn and build new skills.

  • We welcome applications from students with all degree backgrounds in their second to last year of study (i.e. completing your studies in 2027).
  • No prior financial experience is required, just an innate curiosity and eagerness to learn about how companies, industries and markets operate
  • To be eligible, you must be either a New Zealand or Australian Citizen, or a New Zealand Permanent Resident.
