The Equities Operations team is part of the wider global Corporate Operations Group and supports the Equities trading business in Macquarie Capital. The team is responsible for handling post-trade life cycle controls for equities trading in global markets including trade allocation, booking, settlement, funding, reconciliation, and client management. The team works in close collaboration with other departments across Corporate Operations, Front Office, Finance and Risk and work closely with external clients and vendors.

What role will you play?

In this role, you will be part of the Equities Operations team based in Seoul, Korea and will assume a role supporting Macquarie Capital trading in Korean markets, with primary focus on supporting the cash equities business. The role requires close interaction with the trading desks, international and onshore Korean clients, and external brokers to manage pre-matching and settlement of client trading. You will also be responsible for helping drive efficiencies and process enhancements in the day-day process and support change initiatives.
Do note, as the role requires interaction with Korean clients, there is a requirement for business level Korean language skills.

  • Complete and accurately capture all bookings and transactions upon execution in market.
  • To proactively follow up trade mismatches and assist with potential and fail settlements.
  • Manage the pre-matching and settlement of Korean equities trades on timely basis on behalf of Macquarie Capital and its clients.
  • Resolve trade exceptions on timely basis while identifying and rectifying root causes.
  • Work closely with brokers, domestic Korean and international clients to manage queries and issues on a timely manner.
  • Manage escalation of potential issues or incidents to key stakeholders
  • Perform post short sell management reporting to local regulators.
  • Maintain daily reconciliations and critical tasks, assist with resolution of trade discrepancies.
  • Support transformation of processes to enhance controls, efficiencies, client experience and comply with market changes.
  • Fulfill UAT(User Access Test) derived from upcoming Korean market changes – LEI adoption, T+1 settlement etc.
  • Participate in automation projects aiming to improve process efficiency as well as minimizing risks through Excel macro, Alteryx and programming.

You will have ideally have 1-3 years' experience in securities companies or custody in banking. Ideally you will work in a middle office or settlements capacity and have an understanding of control and risk frameworks within banking operations.
