Join our Model Risk Management team based in Sydney who have a global responsibility for ensuring that key financial and risk models used by Macquarie are appropriately managed and validated.

What role will you play?

As a Senior Manager, you will have primary responsibility for oversight and independent validation of models used for Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR), Valuation Adjustments (XVA), the Standardised Initial Margin Model (SIMM) and associated valuation pricing models used for trading activity.

You will manage and deliver risk management outcomes to senior stakeholders across our Commodities and Global Markets, Finance, Credit Risk, Market Risk and Prudential Risk teams.

In addition, you will ensure independent validation is completed to ensure models are compliant with Australian regulations such as, APS180, CPS226 and APS116, whilst assisting the global team in performing validations used to meet local regulatory requirements of Macquarie’s entities in other regions.

What you offer

  • Educational background in a quantitative discipline, with exceptional problem solving skills,
  • Demonstrable risk management experience, with a deep understanding of financial products, key risk factors and advanced modelling techniques regarding CCR and model performance assessments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at multiple levels to deliver strong risk outcomes.
  • Previous experience with model calibration using statistical or stochastic models, advanced numerical/statistical techniques and computational finance.
  • Proficiency in high-level programming languages (Python, R); exposure to low-level languages (C++); and background knowledge in commodity markets would be considered favourably.

In our Risk Management Group, you will be part of an independent, and centralised function, responsible for independent and objective review and challenge, oversight, monitoring and reporting in relation to Macquarie’s material risks. Our divisions include Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Prudential Risk, and Risk Management Group Central.
