Join Macquarie’s North American Power, Gas and Emissions trading team as a Senior Weather Analyst, applying your expertise to provide data and analytics solutions across our commodities business lines. The Commodities Data Science team applies new or advanced methods and technologies to build value across the Commodities business.

What role will you play?

In this role, you will work with traders, analysts and quant research to develop advanced weather analytics products to understand and meet their specific weather-related requirements, drive technical platform build, and identify analytics projects that further support our business. This is a rapidly evolving area where your learning mindset, can-do attitude, and effective communication skills with a diverse set of stakeholders will see you succeed.

What you offer

  • Bachelor's/Masters/PhD in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related quantitative and problem-solving discipline with strong academic performance from a leading university
  • Proven experience working with large weather data sets from any or all of ECMWF, GFS, Commodities Weather Group, etc
  • Understanding of sub-seasonal to seasonal teleconnections to mid-latitude weather
  • Strong python development and modelling skills, familiar with standard data science libraries and visualisation (streamlit, dash)
  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate complex ideas in an actionable manner
