Join our Data Platforms team in our Digital Bank and help us build the best technology business in financial services. Our team focuses on analytics and data science use cases enabled through integrated tooling, improved prototyping and self-serve abilities, higher scalability and reliability and faster delivery.

This is a 12 month contract role.

What role will you play?

As an experienced Data Engineer, you will play a key role in building, implementing and enhancing enterprise scale data solutions.  You will be working in a DevOps environment where you will have end-to-end accountability for designing, developing, deploying and supporting your data assets, and creating templates and implementation methods, standards and frameworks.

You will be involved in developing high quality, low maintenance software solutions for our customers. You will be coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities; contributing to team meetings; development, peer code reviews and testing. You will have the opportunity to learn from senior developers about product and solutions servicing multiple businesses.

What you offer

  • 5+ years of enterprise engineering experience working in a mature cloud environment like AWS, GCP, and Azure
  • Experience in developing code-based ETL/ELT data pipelines with performance-optimized data modeling, preferably in the banking or financial services industry
  • Strong hands-on coding ability in Python
  • Solid experience in authoring complex SQL queries and Data Definition Language (DDL)
  • Proven expertise in data warehousing concepts and data modelling techniques
  • Proficiency in data formatting and wrangling and data preparation
  • Experience with analytics, denormalisation of data, large views, and analytics and reporting
  • Experience in building and deploying data lakes and data warehouses on GCP using services such as BigQuery, Dataform/DBT, Cloud Spanner, Cloud Functions, and GCS a unique advantage but not mandatory
  • Ability to effectively communicate problems and solutions with both business and technical colleagues.
