Our Long Dated Relative Value team in Minneapolis is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Oil Trader. Our desk trades a global book across the entire barrel of oil products using futures, swaps and options. We combine fundamental, quantitative and technical analysis in a collaborative team environment to deploy risk. The team is focused on achieving high risk adjusted returns while maintaining high VaR utilization.

What role will you play?

As part of a small and dynamic trading team within Macquarie’s broader oil business, you will leverage the data and tools at Macquarie to improve our analysis in oil market fundamentals, identify possible trading opportunities, and maintain, update, and improve trading and analytical tools. You will perform daily tasks such as running profit and loss reports, communicating market analysis and views, and develop your risk-taking skills. As you spend more time in the role you will build up a highly specialized knowledge of oil markets and complex financial products as well as Macquarie’s proprietary trading approaches, policies, strategies, and systems.

What you offer

  • 2-3 years of relevant commodities experience in a trading, analysis or research role and Bachelor’s/master’s in finance, economics, math, engineering or similar
  • Demonstrated consistent success in working closely within a team environment and handling high pressure situations; highly driven and self-starting; risk management and/or trading experience required.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical reasoning, written and verbal communication skills and keen interest and knowledge of global geopolitical and economic environment and trends
  • Entrepreneurial and creative in your approach to problem solving
  • Technically skilled in Excel, working with large quantities of data, Bloomberg and/or Reuters familiarity. Programming skills are highly desirable.
