What role will you play?

As a Principal Engineer, you will provide senior technical leadership within the Data Platforms space, shaping the future of our data architecture. You will set the technical vision, guide platform decisions, and address complex challenges, ensuring our solutions are reliable and high performing. Your expertise will foster a culture of innovation, mentoring other engineers and championing best practices. You will play a key role in evaluating and implementing emerging data engineering frameworks, supporting Macquarie’s commitment to continuous improvement.

What you offer

  • Extensive experience designing, building, and managing large-scale data platforms, such as data lakes, warehouses, or integration hubs
  • A proven record of strategic technical leadership, making impactful architectural decisions that influence organisational direction
  • Deep knowledge of modern data technologies (such as Spark, Presto, or BigQuery), cloud data services (with a preference for Google Cloud Platform), and contemporary data integration patterns
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience driving innovation and managing change within large, regulated environments, ideally within financial services.
