Join a team of high-performing engineers in BFS Connectivity where we run and continuously evolve the critical externalisation layer for Banking and Financial Services. We leverage secure, consent-driven APIs to enable third-party providers spanning integrated software platforms for accounting, financial planning, payments, and business management to access Macquarie banking services seamlessly on behalf of our customers. We provide a strategic platform that empowers customers with iconic data sharing, origination and payment experiences within their chosen software platforms and, in future, agentic applications.

What role will you play?

As a Software Engineer in the BFS Connectivity team, you will design, build, and maintain the highly available platform services and environments that power our API externalisation layer. You will operate at the intersection of robust backend engineering and modern DevOps practices to ensure our third-party integrations are seamless, secure, and resilient.

What you offer

  • Hands-on and proven expertise with Java 21+, including deep knowledge of modern language features and performance-oriented coding practices.
  • Strong experience in designing and implementing microservices using Spring Boot with a focus on scalability, observability, and cloud readiness.
  • Practical experience working on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or an equivalent public cloud (AWS, Azure), including deploying, monitoring, and optimising distributed applications.
  • Proficiency with relational and cloud-native distributed databases, with the ability to model, query, and tune data stores for high-throughput, low-latency systems.
  • Experience building event-driven services using Google Pub/Sub or comparable messaging technologies.
  • A strong testing mindset spanning unit, integration, and performance testing
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and environment configuration management, ensuring robust, reliable, and repeatable delivery workflows.
  • Experience supporting production environments, including incident analysis, service reliability, monitoring, alerting, and improving system resilience.
  • A strong willingness to learn and continuously explore emerging technologies, tools, and platform innovations.
