Be supported as you transition from the sporting arena to the workplace through the Macquarie Sports Scholarship. This is an opportunity for elite athletes with an interest in finance to develop their skills and build a professional network with a 11-week paid summer internship, while giving back through Macquarie's’ community sports programs.

What role will you play?

The program runs from December to February and includes a structured induction, on-the-job training and learning opportunities. You will work alongside industry experts on impactful projects to set yourself up for a successful career once you complete your studies. 

We have opportunities in:  

Asset Management 

Play a role in providing investment solutions and managing assets for a broad range of clients.  

Markets 

Gain hands-on exposure to currency and fixed income trading, along with hedging solutions for global corporate and institutional clients. 

Corporate finance, M&A and advisory 

Help advise businesses on mergers or acquisitions providing funding, capital and advisory services.  

Retail banking legal and regulatory risk 

Help safeguard our business and customers by helping to provide legal and regulatory advice for our digital retail bank. 
 
Accounting 

Support the growth of Macquarie by delivering financial management and control advice, management reporting and forecasting, regulatory and tax reporting and business advisory.  

As part of the Macquarie Sports Scholarship, you will also participate in Macquarie Sports projects and programs, including sports clinics and events. You’ll have the opportunity to build meaningful connections by networking with Macquarie Sports Scholarship alumni, fellow Macquarie Summer Interns, and representatives from sporting and not-for-profit organisations.  

What you offer

  • You are an ambitious, focused and well organised elite athlete who is committed to pursuing a corporate career.  
  • You have represented at national and/or state levels in sport within the past three years.  
  • You have a career interest in the banking and finance sector. You are available to complete your placement during the nominated period.  
  • You demonstrate high-level tertiary academic performance. 
  • You do not currently have full time employment. 

About Macquarie Sports  

Macquarie Sports is part of the Macquarie Group Foundation. Since its establishment in 1999, Macquarie Sports has provided more than 200,000 children with opportunities to participate in coaching clinics and meet elite Australian and international athletes. With a focus on regional, rural and marginalised communities, Macquarie Sports works alongside peak sporting bodies with like-minded community programs. It also provides grants to sporting organisations that work to reduce barriers to opportunity amongst young people in Australia, and a scholarship program, assisting elite sports men and women with their post-sport transition into corporate work.
