What role will you play?
Our fast-paced ten-week internship program will provide you with hands-on experience in the world of financial services.
As part of this program, you will:
- Take part in an orientation to learn about Macquarie business groups, with your fellow interns and expand your network.
- You’ll complete meaningful and challenging work allowing you to gain practical experience to tie into your theoretical knowledge from school.
- You will receive support from your manager and aligned mentor.
- You will participate in philanthropic and social events to connect you to our inclusive culture.
- You will present a project that you worked on during the program to senior management.
As an intern with our Commodities and Global Markets team, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills and build your career as you learn from in-house experts ranging from geologists to meteorologists, petroleum and mining engineers to data scientists, quant strategists to traders and advisers.

Commodity Markets and Finance (Houston/NYC) provides risk management, lending and financing, and physical execution and logistics services across the energy, metals and agricultural sectors globally. The team also offers commodity-based index products to institutional investors.
In this role, you will contribute to pricing and projects in commodities that analyze credit risk, market risk, and operational risk to assess both exposures and returns on capital in a bank environment. Opportunities also exist to assess market conditions and fundamentals to help our customers make good risk management decisions.
Credit Markets (NYC) works to provide solutions to monetize and leverage credit assets. The team works with clients to structure bespoke solutions where they finance, trade, or invest in credit assets across corporate loans, residential mortgages, consumer loans, and small business loans. The Credit Markets team has deep relationships with many of the largest private credit investors across North America and EMEA.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with senior management to provide trading and financing solutions to non-traditional lenders and alternative asset investors operating in the private debt, fintech lending, and structured credit markets.
Fixed Income & Currencies (NYC) provides fixed income trading, financing and hedging services to a range of corporate and institutional clients globally, with a focus on private funds, corporates and emerging markets (S. America focused).
In this role, you will be exposed to a fast-paced sales and trading environment. You will learn how markets functions, macro themes and be introduced to corporate finance and structuring. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn about a wide array of products from spot and forwards to structured options and structured finance. As well as being exposed to the intricacies of covering a range of clients from ranging from leading private equity firms to family offices in S. America.
Specialized & Asset Finance (NYC) delivers a diverse range of tailored finance solutions globally across a variety of industries and asset classes.
In this role, you will be part of an asset finance business that is contributing to the energy transition and supporting the sustainability and decarbonisation goals of our clients; designing financing solutions to help clients stay up to date with the latest technology; providing innovative and tailored capital solutions to support renewable energy, zero emission mobility and sustainable waste management; and developing bespoke loan solutions for clients. You will have the opportunity to research new exciting live opportunity, develop your financial modelling skills, and prepare and present your work to senior stakeholders. Additionally, you will work with asset finance and industry experts and gain exposure to portfolio management, risk analysis, and be involved in the creation of transaction documents.

About Commodities and Global Markets
In Commodities and Global Markets you will be part of a global business offering capital and financing, risk management, market access, physical execution and logistics solutions to a diverse client base.
Salary range
Estimated salary amount is the equivalent of $70,000 - $110,000 annually, prorated for the length of time of the internship. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
