2024 Risk Management Group Summer Internship - Internal Audit

Our Risk Management Group is an independent function that objectively advises all Macquarie businesses and the Board to contribute to the long-term success of Macquarie. 

What role will you play?

Our unique ten-week internship program will provide you with hands-on experience working in risk management for a global financial company.  

As part of this program, you will:
  • Take part in an orientation to learn about the Macquarie business groups with your fellow interns and expand your network.
  • You’ll complete meaningful and challenging work allowing you to gain practical experience to tie into your theoretical knowledge from school.
  • You will receive support from your manager and aligned mentor.
  • You will participate in philanthropic and social events to connect you to our inclusive culture.
  • Present a project that you worked on during the program to senior management.

As an intern in the Risk Management Group, you’ll discover how a sound risk culture has been integral to Macquarie’s risk management framework since inception.  Learn from our industry experts through a direct placement based on your interest and our business needs.
Our Internal Audit division's role is to provide independent assurance to Macquarie senior management and the Board on the adequacy and effectiveness of Macquarie’s risk management framework. The team plans and executes testing of internal controls within different businesses of the Macquarie group, and review findings are reported to Macquarie's senior management.  

In this role, you will gain exposure to internal controls for a wide range of trading activities within the Commodities and Global Markets business lines, including the North America Gas and Power Trading, Oil Trading, Agricultural Products trading, and Fixed income/Currencies. You will work on audit reviews that will examine the internal controls for trading activity for physical oil/gas transactions, commodities futures, and over-the- counter (OTC) swaps and options.

With a strong interest in financial services, you bring a proactive, resourceful, and positive attitude as well as a powerful work ethic. 

You have a strong attention to detail with experience and comfort in Excel. 

Salary range

Estimated salary amount is the equivalent of $US70,000 - $US75,000 annually, prorated for the length of time of the internship. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
