- 5+ years’ experience in second line of defence roles across fraud risk, financial crime risk, operational risk or compliance, with a strong focus on independent oversight, governance and credible challenge.
- Demonstrated experience developing, drafting and maintaining risk policies, standards and control frameworks, and supporting their implementation through effective second line oversight.
- Proven capability conducting and reviewing risk assessments, thematic reviews and deep dives, including assessment of inherent and residual risk, control design and control effectiveness.
- A solid understanding of external fraud risk and scam typologies, and how fraud risks manifest across institutional and retail banking products and customer lifecycles.
- Experience challenging first line risk management practices, including governance arrangements, risk acceptance decisions, KRIs and monitoring approaches, in line with risk appetite and regulatory expectations.
- Ability to interpret regulatory expectations and industry guidance and translate these into practical, fit for purpose second line policy and oversight requirements.
- Strong judgement and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify emerging risks, assess complex risk issues and provide clear, risk based recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing governance ready materials for senior management and risk committees.
- Proven ability to engage, advise and influence senior stakeholders while maintaining independence and constructive challenge.
- Experience within a global financial institution or professional services/ advisory environment would be advantageous.
- Candidates with strong second line risk, compliance or operational risk experience, but with less direct exposure to external fraud risk oversight & governance, are also encouraged to apply. Suitable candidates with less experience may be considered for appointment at Senior Analyst level, with scope to develop deeper external fraud risk specialisation over time.
