We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, technology oriented and client focused paralegal with a growth mindset to join Macquarie’s Global Legal and Governance Group Commercial team.

What role will you play?

In this role, you will provide paralegal and practice management support to a high performing, client focused legal team that is responsible for advising the Macquarie Group globally on technology, real-estate and commercial contracts. You will work on strategic projects across different practice groups and jurisdictions. This is a great opportunity to launch your career working under some of the best lawyers in the business, on the most cutting edge matters in technology and financial services.

Under appropriate supervision, you will support our Lawyers with contract review, legal research, and practice management related initiatives. In particular, you will have the opportunity to drive the group’s recently introduced streamlined legal services (SLS) program. The SLS program looks to drive efficiency, improve client experience and promote career development by empowering our paralegals to take ownership of certain engagements for our clients.

You will have the opportunity to review and draft contracts, interact with and build rapport with our business clients across the globe and advise on simple contract law matters. You will also have the opportunity to be supervised and trained by some of the best lawyers in the game. You will improve your skills in practice management by assisting with tasks such as filing and reporting, and play a pivotal role in driving practice excellence initiatives through process improvements and technology adoption.

  • Experience working as a paralegal in a busy law firm or inhouse legal team
  • Legal research skills
  • Self-motivation with the ability to work creatively and independently in a dynamic and client focused team environment
  • Pragmatic and agile mindset, ability to prioritise and perform under pressure
  • Technology oriented perspective with advanced Microsoft office skills in Word, Excel, Sharepoint, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience in the organisation and management of files, records, and documents in a matter management system such as Sharepoint.
