Our equities business combines deep local expertise with a global perspective to deliver exceptional outcomes for institutional and corporate clients. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of a market-leading business, ensuring proactive and robust risk management.
As part of our team, you’ll play a pivotal role in implementing Macquarie’s Risk Management Framework within the Equities business across Australia and New Zealand, with some crossover into the broader APAC region. You’ll work closely with the business to navigate day-to-day operational risk challenges, applying policies and procedures while gaining exposure to a wide array of products and jurisdictions.

In office attendance is required for this role 3+ days per week.

What role will you play?

As part of the First Line of Defence, you will play a key role in supporting the team across APAC, with a primary focus on ANZ. Your responsibilities will include conducting deep-dive reviews of business processes and changes, investigating and managing issues and incidents (operational and behaviour related), surveillance escalations, and ensuring sustainable solutions to address root causes.
You’ll prepare operational risk management reports and perform secretariat tasks for certain risk-related committees, deliver training to foster a strong risk culture, and perform control assurance testing to identify and mitigate risks. Collaborating closely with teams across the business, including Compliance, Finance, Operations, and IT, you’ll support the implementation of new initiatives, conduct risk assessments, and contribute to periodic risk workshops. Your work will drive operational risk awareness and continuous improvement across the Business, with opportunities to engage in a variety of ad hoc projects.

  • Bring at least 3+ years of experience, ideally in operational risk management within a trading environment.
  • Additional experience in Technology, Operations, Finance, or Equities is highly valued.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to integrity.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills to build trust, challenge stakeholders, and engage confidently with front office teams.
  • Show the ability to meet tight deadlines, perform under pressure, and act on constructive feedback effectively.
  • Be a motivated and curious self-starter with the confidence and initiative to drive results in a dynamic environment.
