Macquarie’s ANZ Compliance team maintain a comprehensive Compliance Framework to enable our businesses to discharge their regulatory and compliance obligations. Compliance also maintains the Conduct Risk Framework and supports Macquarie-wide surveillance.

What role will you play?

Reporting to Macquarie’s Global Head of Compliance, you will play a critical role as the regional Head of Compliance.

You will strengthen Macquarie’s relationship with the regulators across all its business and support groups, by acting as its main point of coordination in relation to its engagement with the ANZ based regulators, primarily ASIC.

You will also partner with internal stakeholders to embed an effective and robust control environment, in line with regulatory standards, policies and expectations.

This role will include being a member of the Global Compliance Leadership team and ensuring expert advice and guidance on compliance matters in ANZ are delivered through the regional compliance teams.

You must demonstrate strong leadership skills and have a proven track record in managing and mentoring large and diverse teams. You will need to bring a high level of capability in both the strategic and operational sides of team management. The role also requires your ability to build strong stakeholder relationships with the respective senior management across all groups, including Group Heads.

This role needs a high calibre and experienced compliance professional who can embed and strengthen talent whilst maintaining effective engagement across the firm.

  • Demonstrable and strong track record of engagement with and acting as a point of contact for ASIC, including deep experience and knowledge of key aspects of ASIC’s supervisory approach.
  • Extensive experience and expert market knowledge in financial markets and consumer credit activity, gained from equivalent roles in investment banks.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Australian regulatory environment and financial services regulation and its applicability to Macquarie’s business and support groups.
  • Proven ability to guide and challenge senior stakeholders across diverse business and support groups on the interpretation of regulation.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining compliance policies, procedures and frameworks, including from a global perspective to align local regulatory requirements with business policies, procedures and framework.

In our Risk Management Group, you will be part of an independent, and centralised function, responsible for independent and objective review and challenge, oversight, monitoring and reporting in relation to Macquarie’s material risks. Our divisions include Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Prudential Risk, and Risk Management Group Central.
