Join our Corporate Affairs team in this exciting opportunity to support Macquarie Group’s relations with Asian media and work closely with team members to support Macquarie's external profile and reputation more broadly.

What role will you play?

You will primarily focus on proactive media pitching and positioning, reactive media, issues management and proactively planning, positioning, developing and executing strategic external communications. You will work towards identifying and securing external speaking opportunities whilst preparing Macquarie spokespeople with messages and narratives to appropriately portray the business strategy and defend the corporate reputation.

Your role will also include managing time-sensitive reputational issues as they arise, working closely with internal stakeholders, and working in partnership with marketing colleagues on key projects while taking the lead on managing and delivering relevant external communications. You will also play a role in managing our relationships with PR agencies in some of the markets that we operate in.

In addition, you will work closely with colleagues responsible for internal communications, marketing and events planning on key Macquarie Group communications projects.

What you offer

  • 8+ years of experience in a media relations role with experience across external communications, media and issues management, leadership communications and stakeholder management
  • Comfortable working with senior leadership as a trusted advisor and able to influence when required
  • A strong understanding of the financial services industry or how to manage media relations in a highly regulated sector
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English, with the ability to read and write in Chinese
  • A track record of operating in a global, matrixed organisation, building relationships and working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
