Our Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) Office manages Macquarie’s Australian regulatory accountability framework, and provides risk-based advice, guidance and support to Accountable Persons and their support teams on managing accountability obligations and implementing our regulatory accountability framework.

What role will you play?

You will be joining a dynamic team of senior legal and governance professionals, reporting to the Head of the FAR Office. This role will see you manage and maintain Macquarie’s core FAR documentation including accountability statements and accountability maps and notifying regulators of any updates. You will advise teams across all of Macquarie’s diverse operating groups globally on the application and implementation of Macquarie’s Australian accountability framework and legislative and regulatory requirements

You will support Macquarie’s Accountable Persons (including Macquarie directors and c-suite) with discharging FAR obligations and advise on the application of Macquarie’s regulatory accountability framework in a range of circumstances, including organisational change, incidents and issues.

In addition, you will prepare and facilitate scenarios to test allocation of accountabilities and the adequacy of Macquarie’s regulatory accountability framework, manage Macquarie’s compliance with the APRA Fit and Proper regime, including maintaining the Fit and Proper policy, and respond to FAR-related regulatory requests from ASIC and APRA.

What you offer

  • 4+ years PQE as a private practice / in-house lawyer or 4+ years governance, compliance or risk management experience
  • Prior experience dealing with one or more Australian financial regulators e.g. ASIC, APRA, AUSTRAC, ACCC.
  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and administering frameworks, particularly at a global financial institution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse stakeholder group.
  • Strong prioritisation, project management, creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to excel under pressure and build trust with stakeholders
