The Macquarie User Access Management Transformation Program offers exciting opportunities for engineers to innovate, design, build, and maintain solutions. As part of the Site Reliability Engineering team, we are responsible for the reliability, performance, and efficiency of systems and services that drive user access management controls and operations.

What role will you play?

You will identify opportunities to automate and remove toil across areas within the User Access Management domain such as User Access Reviews, Access Provisioning, Role Based Access Controls, etc. Through partnering with engineering teams within Macquarie, you will help develop and drive the adoption of SRE best practices and tooling across the organisation. The role will require close engagement and collaboration with all the engineering community as you work in an embedded SRE team to help solve the biggest challenges we face.


You will be involved in projects such as measuring, testing and improving our resilience (Chaos engineering and Reliability Patterns), our capacity to deal with increasing load (Demand forecasting and capacity planning), our ability to make changes safely (Change management and System Design) and our Observability (SLOs, Metrics, monitoring, and alerts)

What you offer

• Strong experience of 4 to 9 years in any scripting language with any cloud platform.
• Experience in log monitoring tools and strong DevOps fundamentals with preference for Java, Golang, Microservices.
• Software engineering and system design utilising Java and able to provide Root Cause Analysis and troubleshooting/debugging Java applications in production.
• Understand the benefits and correct use of SLOs, metrics, logs and traces
• Excellent understanding of reliability patterns (circuit breakers, rate limiting, bulk heads etc) and implementing at scale to maximise the customer experience
• Understand the AI wave is coming, and are appropriately ready to utilise AI to improve productivity and product outcomes
• Experience in APM and Observability tools.
