What role will you play?

As an experienced hands-on Senior Java Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future architecture and technical direction of our strata operational platform. You will bring deep engineering expertise to solve complex business and technology challenges, driving solutions that balance immediate delivery needs with long-term strategic platform goals.

You will provide end-to-end technical leadership across both frontend and backend domains, including Angular applications, Java and Spring Boot services, APIs, integrations and data layers. You will lead solution architecture activities, guide engineering teams through technical trade-offs and help ensure solutions align with the long-term direction of the PropertyIQ platform.

You will often act as a Feature Lead for complex initiatives, owning the technical delivery approach from discovery through design, implementation and production rollout. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product and business stakeholders, mentor engineers and help chart a path from short-term deliveries towards long-term platform evolution.

You will also help shape the engineering culture around AI adoption. We are looking for someone who can champion AI-assisted software engineering, influence ways of working and help teams embed AI-enabled practices into day-to-day delivery to improve quality, productivity and learning.

  • Strong full-stack engineering experience across Java 17+, Spring Boot and Angular in cloud environments
  • Strong understanding of modern front-end architecture, component-driven development, state management, accessibility and user experience considerations
  • Strong understanding of how to design performant, resilient, observable and maintainable distributed systems
  • Proven experience designing and evolving service-oriented and microservices architectures
  • Experience leading solution architecture activities and driving architecture decisions for complex, large-scale systems
  • Ability to act as a Feature Lead for complex initiatives, coordinating technical delivery across engineers and stakeholders
  • Experience leading technical discovery, solution design, implementation planning and delivery execution
  • Ability to write code while also contributing strategic technical leadership
  • Experience delivering proof-of-concepts and evaluating emerging technologies and engineering approaches
  • Strong understanding of scalability, reliability, performance and operational excellence
  • Experience mentoring engineers and uplifting technical capability across teams
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and business outcomes
  • Proven experience using and championing AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Copilot or Gemini CLI
  • Ability to help change engineering culture through the adoption of AI-enabled software development practices
  • Experience identifying opportunities to improve developer productivity, software quality and delivery efficiency through AI-assisted engineering
  • Passion for improving developer experience and engineering productivity
  • Knowledge of open-source libraries, tools and frameworks
  • A structured approach to problem solving and an ability to critically assess multiple data points to identify root causes and design effective solutions
  • Applied understanding of technology obsolescence, regulatory compliance, security and privacy requirements

Nice to have
  • AWS architecture and operational experience
  • Experience with Kafka, event-driven architectures and distributed workflows
  • Experience driving platform modernization initiatives
  • Exposure to platform engineering and internal developer platforms
